Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026. This covers the Five-Second Test website and Chrome extension.
What we collect and why
- When you run a test (website or extension): the page URL, the visible above-the-fold text, and a screenshot of the visible page area. These are sent to our servers and to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate your audit. Audit results are stored so you can revisit and share them.
- Cookies: an anonymous identifier to enforce the free-test quota, and a session cookie when you sign in. The extension uses the same cookies as the website. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- When you sign in: your email address, used for sign-in links, your test history and credit balance.
- When you buy something: payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe shares with us your email, company details and VAT number so we can fulfil your order and issue an invoice.
- When you order an audit or apply for a free one: the details you submit (name, company, email, website, competitor URLs) are used to produce and deliver the audit.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties beyond the processors named above (Anthropic for analysis, Stripe for payments, Resend for email, Vercel for hosting).
- We don't collect your browsing history. The extension only reads the page you're on at the moment you click it, and only after you click it.
- We don't use your pages or screenshots to train AI models.
Retention and your rights
Audit results are kept so your test history and shared report links keep working. You can ask us at any time to see or delete the data we hold about you: email support@5sec.io and we'll handle it within 30 days.
